The name Bloodhound is believed to mean either a dog that can follow the scent of blood from a wounded animal or a dog that is a "blue blood" amongst dogs. The dogs was included in the show for the first time in England in 1860 while the first tracking meet by the Association of Bloodhound Breeders of England was held in 1898.
